I am really confused please help!

I just sat down to look at the Northampton Community College community Education catalog for 2008. I was looking for how much it might cost for CPR training for our ushers and nursery workers. What I found has made me very angry. They offer a Free Spanish CPR for family and friends and right below that course for our English speaking citizens the same class except it cost us $60. So me being the person that I am called the school and asked if I could register for the Spanish speaking FREE class and asked if they would give me an interpreter. The lady on the other end said, "I think not". I responded with why am I being descriminated against because I know how to speak english. She said I would then have to speak to the director. Which I am currently waiting on a phone call from. I don't know about you, but this really bothers me. Doesn't my family and friends need life saving help too!

It seems to me that this discrimination is another unfair way to promote spanish speaking people to there college. Its like this... If they offer programs like that it will help them meet quotas that will allow the school to claim its Diversity and giving it a better reputation. But then again Is charging english people helping. And what can be said legally about this ?????

Hello, Pastor Deb -
The Center for Healthcare Education at Northampton Community College has offered free CPR training for the past two years as a community service. Sometimes it's offered in English. Sometimes it's offered in Spanish. This semester it is in Spanish. We also have provided free CPR instruction for churches. The only cost is the cost of materials. To find out more about this, call 610-861-5094.

I'm glad everything worked out well. I was quite surprised that NCC would charge English speakers only, since we live in such a PC programmed society. I guess it's one of those times when a simple marketing audit or an explanatory footnote would've helped them.
